Mozilla Thunderbird Description

Mozilla Thunderbird is a Cross-platform, open-source email client that competes with the like of Outlook and Eudora mail. Mozilla Thunderbird orgin is an offshoot of the Mozilla Firefox Web browser project and was developed by the same team until Mozilla Corporation released development to an independent organization in order to focus efforts on Firefox.

Like Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird supports add-ons and extensions that provide additional functionality to the e-mail client. One of the key extensions available for Mozilla Thunderbird is Mozilla Lightning, an extension that adds calendar and personal information manager (PIM) capabilities to Thunderbird.

Display the Thunderbird menus and toolbar: Whether or not the Thunderbird Menu Bar is displayed depends on your Operating System.

For Windows and Linux users, there are two cases:

  • For existing Thunderbird users, if the Menu Bar is missing, it is usually because it has been hidden accidentally.
  • For new Thunderbird users starting in any version of Thunderbird released in November 2012 or later, the Menu Bar is hidden by default.
